About

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (Rainbow) is a philanthropic sorority for girls ages 11-20, and does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, orientation, disability, or religion. “Rainbow Gets Girls Ready for Life!” The leadership, organization and communication skills that girls learn in Rainbow are unparalleled, and not found in any other organization serving young women today.

Rainbow instills a deep sense of service in its members, and teaches girls the importance of service above self. Girls plan and attend hands-on service events in the community and raise funds for charities they are passionate about. In the past five years alone, chapters across Washington and Idaho have raised tens of thousands of dollars for charity.

Rainbow teaches girls how to lead through hands-on experience. The girls of each Assembly plan events, establish budgets, and run their own business meetings. Girls are elected by their peers to lead the organization at the local and state level, giving girls the unique opportunity to run a non-profit organization. Read more

“I belong to a youth organization for girls 11-20 called International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.  Rainbow allows young women to grow their leadership skills and public speaking, as well as doing hands-on community service; to gain confidence and organizational skills that I would not otherwise have.  There are also many scholarship opportunities that being in Rainbow offers, as we promote the value of education.”

I’m in a youth organization for girls 11-20, called the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.  Rainbow gives girls a safe place to grow and gain confidence, working on leadership, community service, and public speaking.  Rainbow was/is my lifeline and continues to make me happy, and most of my best and life-long friends are a part of this group.  Without this organization, I wouldn’t be who I am today and I believe any girl can join and blossom in leadership and confidence through their journey in the group.

“I am in a Masonic youth organization called Rainbow.  Rainbow girls teaches us to be confident, gives us the ability to speak in front. Rainbow is a non-profit, service based organization for girls aged 11-20.  We learn valuable life skills, such as leadership, public speaking and how to communicate effectively, and we even offer scholarships!  Coming from a family of four brothers, Rainbow has given me the opportunity to get out of the house, and make life-long friends who are like sisters to me.”

“When I first joined Rainbow I saw it as a great opportunity to make friends outside of school, as well as a group of people who I could look up to because they interact with public figures. But now as I reach my last few years in Rainbow, I have come to finally realize how much this organization has prepared me for life outside of school. Rainbow taught me not only how to interact with people, but how to be confident in any decisions I make in the future. Rainbow truly does get girls ready for life.”

“We have three generations of Rainbow in our family. My grandparents were involved with their six daughters; my parents with their three, my sister with her two, and myself with my two. I myself was a Rainbow Girl, and it was that time in my life that taught me more than one could ever know. I was once bashful and shy; Rainbow taught me to be confident and to have a certain poise that allows me to be able to take on the world.”

“When I was eleven years old I was going through a great deal of personal turmoil. I was getting over the loss of a father, I had horrible self-esteem and I was doing poorly in school. I was so afraid to let anyone get close to me out of fear of being judged or not being accepted. When I joined rainbow it opened my eyes to life and all of its possibilities. It created a world where I could be myself and grow into a strong and empowered woman. Because of rainbow I went from a fourth grader who could barely read, to a second year veterinary student in the top 15th percentile of my class. Rainbow gives you the courage to discover what you want out of life and then gives you the tools to accomplish it.”
