Making a Difference in our Communities...

Sequim Assembly #57
Our small Assembly is learning the importance of community service.  We only have 9 members.  Our contribution for "Make a Difference Day" was to work at the Food Bank in Sequim on Oct. 30. Four Girls participated - that's half of the Assembly.  We unloaded and put away food donations, sorted food, filled requests, and cleaned the kitchen.  It was a small contribution to the Community, but has instilled an interest and commitment in the girls to continue helping.  Since Make a Difference Day, we have had two food drives, including collecting baby food and other donations. Our total was 84# of food and $305 in monetary donations.  We also donated pop and water to the Sequim volunteers for the National Day of Service. We look forward to continuing service projects for our community.

Kent #87, Laurel #144, Southgate #71, W Seattle #18
The assemblies of District 6/7 worked at the Northwest Harvest warehouse in Kent on Make a Difference Day. Throughout the morning the girls and adults, packaged dry beans into smaller quantities that are just right for the many families in need. All in all, over 9600 pounds of beans were packaged and over 3000 families will be helped by just a few hours of hard work!

Benton City Assembly #135
For Make A Difference Day 2010, Benton City Assembly decided to combine our service with our Halloween Party. Since it was part of our Halloween party, we made a difference on October 30th, instead of the 23rd. The Assembly went to a local neighborhood and went trick or treating for canned goods followed by hot chocolate and pizza at our Worthy Advisors house. The plan was then to go to the Haunted Forest in Pasco, but the girls decided that they were perfectly happy to spend their time playing Rock Band instead! Benton City had six girls that were able to participate and three adults. We were all very proud of our results, with about of food. Next year we hope to cover an even larger area, with even better results!

Faith Assembly #145
For Make a Difference Day Faith Assembly made journal covers that go with the survivor outreach team on Lewis-McChord when they make house calls and tell families their loved one has passed away. This project was on the Lewis-McChord Make a Difference Day list, and usually these projects are taken on by units or other groups on post. However, because our WA Lindsey's theme is "Living in Freedom" and I'm Grand Patriotism they allowed us to do this project, which was a really neat privilege. The link below is to the article of Faith Assembly that was in the Ranger and Air Lifter newspaper.
